The pneumatic fender is also known as the Yokohama fender or floating fender, which comply to the ISO17357 standard. It is made up of thick layer of vulcanized rubber with end flanges to charge in air. They also posses a network of tires attached to their outer surface through a series of chain connected to its body. The unique property of a pneumatic fender is its low reaction force at low deflection. This property of pneumatic fenders makes them the most suitable fender for liquid cargo vessels and defense vessels with sensitive equipment, besides it has become an ideal ship protection medium used extensively by large tankers, LPG vessels, ocean platforms, etc.
The structure of Rubber Pneumatic Fenders:
The outer rubber layer protects the cord layer and inner layer from abrasion and other external forces. This compound has sufficient tensile and tear strength to withstand any weather condition and hard usage
The cord layers are arranged at ideal angles to hold the internal pressure and to distribute the stress evenly. The fenders cord layer is constructed by means of integrative twine technology and consists of polyamide fiber with high tensile stress, so that the fenders have unique strength and uniformity in different directions.
The inner rubber layer seals the air inside, utilizing a compound with airtight quality.Pneumatic Rubber fender description Yokohama rubber fender is intended to be used for the berthing and mooring of a ship to another ship or berthing structure. NOTES OF PNEUMATIC RUBBER FENDERS
1 Keep the fender away from sharp objects, in case damage the fender body.
2 Fender cannot touch with acid, oil and other organic solvent.
3 When fender not use for a long time, they should be washed to clean, dried and proper compressed air inflated. Put them in a dry , cool and ventilated area.
4 The storage area should be far away from heat source.
5 Do not put heavy objects on the fender when fender not in use.
6 Fender in normal usages should be checked the inner pressure every 3 months. Meanwhile, Air valve core should be replaced every 6 months.
